Q6:  What engineering subject areas does the IEP include?

Because all technical areas are international today, the IEP works and makes sense for all engineering fields. The Germans are major players in so many areas, whether electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical, computer, biomedical, manufacturing, etc. We have internship placement opportunities for students combining German with all engineering disciplines taught at URI.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
