Q11:  Why should I learn German and study in Germany?

Germany is the strongest economic force in Europe, with critical access to the emerging Eastern Europe. There are huge German investments in the U.S. as well as American investments in Germany. And these companies all need engineers and business professionals with good German skills. URI students graduating from the International Engineering Program, for example, have all either been accepted for high quality graduate programs or have found excellent jobs with international companies.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
