Heidi Kirk Duffy Receives Germany's Highest Civilian Award
Posted August 2000

Dr. Heidi Kirk-Duffy, Chair of the IEP Advisory Board, was recently honored with Germany's highest civilian award, the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, First Class, for her work with the IEP.  A Providence Journal article on Dr. Kirk-Duffy's accomplishments appeared on August 8, 2000.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
