Call for Papers:

The Online Journal of Global Engineering Education (OJGEE) invites engineering and language educators, international program administrators, deans, provosts, presidents, corporate leaders, as well as public sector representatives and other interested parties to submit articles for its inaugural issue.

OJGEE serves as a unique peer-reviewed research outlet for the cross-disciplinary and corporate constituencies involved in creating, maintaining, and growing global engineering education programs.

We invite submissions on the following topics:

  • Making the case for global engineering education:  What does today's global industry expect from academia?  How will engineers be educated for global responsibilities?  Do American engineers need to be bi- or multilingual?

  • Gearing up for international engineering education:  Effective strategies for launching programs, finding curricular models, and identifying funding sources.

  • "Maintaining the momentum":  Sustaining and expanding existing programs, especially in terms of advocacy and outreach / recruitment and retention.

  • Implications for Language Programs:  Materials development, instructor training and needs, technology, pedagogical / didactic approaches, assessment criteria.

  • Current practices in international engineering classrooms:  Successes and experiments in internationalizing engineering curricula.

  • Student perspectives on global engineering education:  Caveats and Success Stories.

  • History of international engineering education.

  • Study abroad issues in global engineering education.

  • Other related topics are welcome.

Early submission of abstracts is encouraged.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
