Welcome to the Spanish IEP
|
Students take a Spanish course each semester alongside their engineering classes. In the fourth year of the program students spend eleven to twelve months abroad, first studying at one of our exchange partner universities in Spain or Mexico, and then completing a paid professional internship in Spain or Latin America. They then complete their fifth and final year back on the Kingston campus, where they have the chance to participate in special recruitment visits from corporate partners. IEP students are highly sought after for their combination of strong engineering skills, extensive cross-cultural experiences and fluency in at least two languages.
Our IEP alumni network is strong and continuously growing. Begun in 1998, twenty-eight students have graduated from the Spanish IEP. Many opt for employment based in the United States, but with varying levels of cross-cultural interaction and foreign travel. Others have chosen to seek employment overseas, some with permanent positions and others on "ex-pat" assignments. Many have been selected for management and leadership-track opportunities.
