Q6:  What are the advantages of becoming an IEP student?

The IEP adds a whole new dimension to engineering education. Graduates of the program are fluent in Spanish, have a thorough understanding of at least one Spanish culture, and are familiar with the way engineering is practiced in that culture. Students already proficient in Spanish can opt to take 6 credits in Portuguese, enabling them to gain at least a minimal proficiency in an important third language and enhance their career opportunities. Experience has proven this to be a great advantage when seeking job opportunities in today's competitive environment.

The International Engineering Program is a dual-degree program combining a B.A. in German, French and/or Spanish with a B.S. in one of the engineering disciplines.  IEP students study language and culture each semester along with their engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program, they then go abroad as interns with engineering based firms in Europe or Latin America, and also as exchange students with one of our partner universities
