Katie Zimmerman is the coordinator for the IEP. Katie comes to the IEP from a background in foreign language teaching. Fluent in French, she taught foreign language at the elementary and secondary levels for 8 years prior to joining the IEP in fall 2010. She enjoys applying the skills acquired during her teaching career to high school outreach and marketing at the IEP.
Katie received her undergraduate degree in French with a minor in Music from Skidmore College. After graduating magna cum laude from Skidmore in 2002, Katie took off to Southern France where she taught English to primary school students for a year in several rural public schools. She completed a Master of Arts in Teaching Foreign Language from Boston University in 2006. At BU she received the Lisa P. Loeb Fellowship, which allowed her to travel throughout Belgium, Switzerland, and France following graduation. Upon completing her masters, Katie taught French at Weymouth High School in Massachusetts for four years, serving as lead teacher of the Foreign Language Department for one of those years.
Outside of the professional sphere, she can be found traveling or pursuing her love of outdoor activities.
