Abstract:  Bacteriophages are responsible for the virulence of many bacterial pathogens. Phage-encoded virulence factors include the shiga toxins in pathogenic strains of Escherichia coli, the cholera toxin in Vibrio cholerae, and the botulinum neurotoxins in Clostridium botulinum.  More
