Mupirocin Heteroresistance in Staphylococcus aureus
This study will investigate the prevelance of mupirocin heteroresistance (hMUP) in Staphylococcus aureus.  The impact of hMUP is not well described in the clinical and scientific literature.  The student will conduct an in vitro (laboratory based) assay that identifies mupirocin heteroresistance in the bacteria S. aureus.  Once fully described, a connection to clinical patient outcomes can be accessed.
