Molecular and nutritional basis for E. coli colonization of the intestine
Current projects involve investigating the molecular and nutritional factors that comtribute to the ability of commensal and pathogenic strains of  E. coli to colonizine the intestinal tract.  The project makes use of a mouse model,  involves the construction of mutatant strains of E. coli with altered colonizing ability, and investigation of the underlying molecular and regulatory mechanisms that enhance of diminish colonizing ability.
