Location: The URI French Film Program will take place in Compiegne, France, one hour north of Paris. This program is designed to allow both advanced students in film and students with no pre-requisite knowledge of film production to participate in the production and post-production of a film short under the tutelage of renowned French screenwriters, directors and producers. The film shorts will be shown at the annual festival du courtmetrage held by the Alliance Francaise

in Providence, RI. This program is also designed to encourage students to begin or advance their French through immersion learning.

Program Fees: $3,992

NOTE: All fees subject to change

Program Fees Includes:

  • Tuition 6 URI credits
  • Accommodation
  • Two meals per day
  • Use of camera equipment and course materials


  • Students will enroll in 6 URI credits:
  • FLM 351: Topics in Film Media Production or FLM 401: Field Experience in Film Media and
  • FRN 101: Beginning French or FRN 200X
  • Double-occupancy residencies
  • Two meals per day

Scholarship Opportunity: Students are encouraged to apply to the Beatrice S. Demers Foreign Language Fellows Program. Application deadline is Janaury 31, 2011.
