G'Day! Studying abroad in Australia was the best academic and life decision I have ever made. The learning experience I gained while living in another country is something an "in class" education could never provide for me. Expanding my viewpoint beyond the American borders has allowed me to become an empathetic global citizen with knowledge of other cultures, people, and my own limits. Being completely independent from home and friends was a true read of my maturity as a student and as a person. I think it is a priceless learning tool to discover oneself before entering the so-called "real world", and studying abroad allows for this personal growth and academic elevation while having a lot of fun in the meantime. Living in Australia for four and a half months has put me a step ahead of the students who chose to earn their education in a local college community. I now have a great resume builder, personal travel experience, and a plethora of friends around the world. As cliché as it sounds, studying abroad has truly changed my life. I have caught the "travel bug" and now what to see everything, do everything, and learn everything I can about other people and places. The desire for continued learning is what secondary education is all about, so I highly recommend studying abroad to spark that interest to learn about yourself and the world around you.
