Emergency Procedures - Prior to Departure

  • When traveling with students, preparations must include registering the program plans with the Office of International Education.
  • All URI international travelers are required to enroll in URI’s Emergency Evacuation Services Program provided by FrontierMEDEX. The Office of International Education will register all participants on faculty-led programs (only) with Frontier FrontierMEDEX for the duration of the program.
  • Program Directors should refer to the Department of State travel advisories both during the planning process and immediately prior to departure (http://www.travel.state.gov/), where they may access information that includes, but is not limited to, current travel alerts and warnings. Program Directors can also review travel information on the FrontierMEDEX website.
  • Program leaders should know and become familiar with the location of the closest US Embassy or Consulate in the country/countries they will be visiting. A list of US Embassies around the world can be found at: (http://www.usembassy.gov/).
