ACQUIRING A U.S. VISA:
The URI Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) will issue a DS-2019 form for you to submit with a visa application to the US Embassy responsible for your country.
Before you are issued a DS-2019, you will need to provide URI with an ORIGINAL "Certificate of Financial Responsibility" along with your application. This form, along with visa application information, is included in the URI application.
You must also submit a legible copy of your passport photo page with your application. The DS-2019 will not be sent until all of your required application materials are received.
HOUSING OPTIONS AT URI:
While there are many housing options on-campus, we cannot guarantee that you will have the accommodation of your choice. Our staff will work to secure on-campus housing for all visiting students. Important: Although housing options are limited, we guarantee that you will have on-campus housing if requested. Your housing application will be processed after your admission to the University.
*Early move-in may be possible but is not guaranteed each semester. The Office of International Education will provide an orientation program and welcome week activities for visiting and exchange students prior to the start of classes. Participation in orientation and welcome week is mandatory for all Exchange and Visiting Students.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR COURSES AT URI:
Students can register for courses as soon as they are admitted as an Exchange/Visiting Student to URI. Review the Exchange Student Registration Worksheet for instructions on adding courses in e-Campus , URI's online registration system.
