Dion - The ancient village of Dion, known for its archeological museum. The village manages to offer both authentic Greek culture and pleasant accommodations for tourists.

Delphi - The mountainous terrain of Delphi overlooks some of the world's largest olive groves. It is here that a young Socrates asked the Oracle for advice.

Kos - Kos is one of Rhodes' neighboring islands. Its unique Mediterranean beauty makes it a fitting weekend destination.

Lindos - Once home to 40,000 soldiers, Lindos is now known for its cliff diving and fabulous beaches. A very popular European vacation spot. Definitely worth checking out.

Mt. Olympus - Thought once to be the home of Zeus, this 9,500 foot mountain makes for a very satisfying hike.

Mycenae - Mycenae is one of Greece's oldest and most important archeological sites. The main attraction is the Tomb of Clytemnestra (~1350BC), which is 50' in diameter and nearly as tall.

Olympia - In classical times, this is where the Olympic games were held. It is also home to the ruins of The Temple of Zeux (one of the Seven Wonders of the World). The size of the temple's fallen columns is unimaginable.

Parties - Though strictly optional, partying is an inescapable part of everyone's study abroad experience.

Rhodes Island - A very rural island, Rhodes often resembles New England's more remote areas.

Rhodes Town - The capital city of Rhodes features the site of The Colossus of Rhodes (another of the Seven Wonders of the World), as well as "Old Town," a completely walled in medieval city of 5,000 people.

Soroni - The majority of my time in Greece was spent in this small village. It's humble beauty is easy to appreciate in passing; Soroni stands in true contrast to American life.

Sparta - In oder to understand the reputation of Spartan soldiers, all that's needed is a drive through this city. Though only a fool would invade Sparta on foot, today a drive through its winding mountain roads provides views of great scenery.

Athens - If you're interested in truly understanding modern Greek life, Athens is your best bet. The city pace demands that you develop your language skills.

Travel - Because of its central location in the Mediterranean, and proximity to other European countries, traveling out of Greece is easy. My independent travel experiences were some of the most memorable and rewarding of my semester abroad.
