The Goat
"is this a test?..."
Last thursday I was woken at sunset by the tormented cries of an unknown being. As the cries continued, I realized this creature hadn't the rationale to shut up. When I stepped outside, I was met by John Tiniakos who was thinking the same thing. We soon saw that the cries were coming from the street's end where a stuck goat had fallen victim to a tree.
Each of the goat's horns were stuck between tree branches, and its two front legs were stuck together at such a steep angle that they were above its head. The head was easy to free, but its legs were lodged tightly at the bottom of a branch fork and presented somewhat of a problem. If we were to pull, the goat's legs would break.
Greece and "random object depository" must nearly be interchangeable because I was able to find a five foot iron lever within sight of the goat. In order to get enough leverage, both of us had to put all of our weight on the lever... this left no one to free the goat. So we quickly recruited Amy, and as a team we were able to free this crying goat.
