"A Baroque Adventure: City of Encounters, City of the Gods"

Location

Mexico City is the world's third-largest metropolis. Mexico City's 350 colonias (neighbourhoods) sprawl across the ancient bed of Lago de Texcoco and beyond. The University of Rhode Island and the Universidad Iberoamericana of Mexico City offer an interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate course dealing with the cultural development of Mexico City, the once great Aztec capital and its byways.

1) URI Fees: $575.00 (to be paid by check to the University of Rhode Island before departure)

  • Administrative fees

2) Iberoamericana Fees: $925.00 (to be paid to Universidad Iberoamericana by check upon arrival in Mexico)

  • Room

  • Board

  • 3 credits/ SPA 597/497, directed study for graduate and advance undergradute students
  • Can also count for Rhode Island Department of Education Secondary I-P Program

Non-Matriculated students invited.


Total Fees = $1,500.00

Academics:
  • 3 week program
  • Coursework involves daily lectures and discussions
  • Coursework focuses on the cultural developments of Mexico City, the once great Aztec capital and its byways.
  • 54 hours of seminars & historical/museum visits: 36 hours interdisciplinary lectures, 12 hours historical & museum visits, 6 hours invited guest lectures
  • Final Student Project due October 1st 2005
  • Certificate of Completion provided to students by Universidad Iberoamericana
Housing and Meals:
  • Meals provided by Universidad Iberoamericana: 2 meals per day with family, breakfast and dinner
  • Homestays: families selected by International Student Office of Universidad Iberoamericana: Students usually participate in the activities of family life.

  • Art galleries
  • Musical events
  • Archaeological site visits
  • Historical restaurant visits with typical Mexican cuisine
