GU8 Global MBA & Leadership

Location:
The GU8 Global MBA and Leadership program offers classroom lectures, industrial site visits, and cross-cultural case analysis work in four worldwide locations: the U.S., France, China and Korea. Only five students will be selected to participate in this unique educational opportunity to undertake two weeksÕ study at each location, including two weeks in Rhode Island. Five students from each of the three other locations also participate in the program to comprise a class of 20 students visiting all four locations across the globe. The program involves case analysis work in group study teams comprised of one member from each country/institution. Qualifications for the program include graduate student standing, though senior undergraduate students with outstanding academic and leadership credentials will be considered.
Program Fees: US$ 4,500.00 (Program Fee of $7,500.00 minus the URI grant of $3,000.00)
Application Deadline: March 13th
Airfare Purchase must be made by May 1st
Final Payment: June 1st
NOTE: All fees subject to change, airfare not included.
Academics:
- Earn 9 graduate credits
- Scholarships are available.
Courses:
- BUS 463 for graduate credit, BUS 591, BUS 592 (directed study); outstanding undergraduates may apply and would receive BUS 491 and BUS 492 as the directed study credits.
- Brief course description/ Specific information: BUS 463, Advanced Topics in Global Operations and Supply Chain Management, is offered at URI under Professor Doug Hales of the College of Business Administration. The course includes site visits to Ocean Spray, Hasbro Corp., and CVS. Course topics in other locations are: France: French retailing and supply chain management plus corporate social responsibility; China: Business communication; Korea: Knowledge Management and Corporate Culture.
Housing:
- Housing is provided by hosts in France, China, and South Korea.
- Some meals are provided during program, meals generally are the studentÕs responsibility
Cultural Activities:
- France, Caen Memorial (WWII); Honfleur; City of Rouen
- Korea: National museum and palace in Seoul; Korean Folk Village; Buddhist Temple Stay
- China: Hakka Earth Building Complex in Longyan-Yongding County; Xiamen Gulangyu Island
