Institutional Research Mission Statement
The fundamental mission of the Office of Institutional Research unit is to collect, organize, analyze and report institutional and other data to support URI management, operations, decision-making, and planning activities. Included in this mission is basic information processing of University-wide data leading to broadly based institutional perspectives and understanding. Implicit to this mission is an effort to provide data and information related to projected needs, program objectives, and efficiency and effectiveness in the use of institutional resources.
As a unit within the Office of Provost, IR meets information needs of the offices of the President, Provost, the Vice Presidents and the Deans, in that priority sequence. IR responds to additional administrative offices and administrative committees as time and resources permit or as determined by the Vice Provost for Information Services to whom IR reports. Additionally, IR has routine data and reporting activities and procedures designed to meet the needs of constituencies both internal and external to the University.
