Welcome to the Office of International Students & Scholars

On behalf of the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS), I would like to extend our warmest congratulations on your decision to join the University of Rhode Island community of undergraduate and graduate students, distinguished scholars, faculty, and staff. We hope that you will quickly become part of our community, getting to know your colleagues, research associates, and fellow students. To this aim, the OISS will host International Coffee Hours and celebrate selected holiday events. These events are intended to bring Americans and you together. The OISS works with international students, researchers and scholars throughout your stay at URI. We are available to assist you in becoming comfortable in your new environment. We provide initial immigration documents and problem-solving assistance to all international undergraduate and graduate students, scholars, and their dependents. We also organize new arrival orientations and coordinate services with other academic and administrative units on campus. We are prepared to help you with the following topics and more, which include:

Compliance with regulations from the US Department of Homeland Security and the US Department of State
Using and responding to local government agencies processes and regulations (e.g., Social Security Administration, Department of Motor Vehicles, etc.)
URI administrative process
