See instructions below to get an email account on mail.uri.edu and to forward your mail.
Students
Student process their email using the Google-hosted email system named my.uri.edu. The pre-set password for your email account is your birth date in the form mmddyyyy; it is NOT your e-Campus password. Change your password immediately for security reasons!
Note: If you have not yet registered on e-Campus and selected your e-Campus user ID and password, go to www.uri.edu/ecampus; select First Time Users Register Here! One business day after you have done that, you can use your email account.
If you wish, you can change the pre-set email password to be the same as the password you chose for your e-Campus user ID; but remember, if you change your password, be sure to change it in both places.

One business day after you have registered on e-Campus, you can activate your email account.
Change Your Password!!
The pre-set password for your email account is your birth date in the form mmddyyyy; it is NOT your e-Campus password. Change your password immediately for security reasons! If you wish, you can change the pre-set password to be the same as the password you chose for your e-Campus user ID; but remember, if you change your password, be sure to change it in both places. Your email address will be in the form: e-CampusUserID@mail.uri.edu; for example, smith123@mail.uri.edu.

Instructions for configuring Outlook are linked below. If your email program is already configured for another server, go to Re-Configuring Windows Email Software below to configure it for the mail.uri.edu server. Information on other programs is available at the Help Desk site.
Outlook Express, MS Outlook 2003 and 2000
Server settings:
The SMTP server name is smtpserv.uri.edu
The POP and IMAP server name is mail.uri.edu
Re-Configuring Windows Email Software
If your Windows Outlook Express program is already configured for another server, re-configure it for the mail.uri.edu server.
Forwarding Your Email
You can forward your incoming mail from any valid URI email account (ending in mail.uri.edu or etal.uri.edu) to any email address of your choice.
Email Forwarding Policy
Many outside email providers require that all email be filtered for SPAM and viruses before being forwarded to their services. Therefore, URI will not forward externally any email that URI SPAM filters classify as SPAM or that URI virus filters classify as containing viruses. This email will be deleted.
URI will delete all email that it attempts to forward and the recipient does not accept. By selecting the option to forward your URI email, it is assumed that you understand and agree to this policy.
