Professor Roberta King This narrated movie takes the viewer from the human silhouette down subsequent levels of detail to the transporter proteins which are the molecular targets of most diuretic drugs. The movie shows the flow processes within the kidney including such aspects as filtration, re absorption, and excretion in the nephron. It also shows the molecular sequence of ion transport in different sections of the nephron. Diuretic agents act by blocking certain transporters in each section, decreasing the re absorption of sodium and altering the re absorption of other ions. |
