Creating 35mm slides from PowerPoint presentations

For faculty, staff, and graduate students:

To get 35 mm slides from your PowerPoint presentation, create your presentation with PowerPoint 7.0 on a PC running Windows 95. If your presentation was created in an older version of PowerPoint, you must save it in PowerPoint 7.0. If you use PowerPoint for the Macintosh, you must convert the presentation to PowerPoint 7.0 for Windows 95. You can do this in the Chafee 217 Microcomputer Lab. After you have converted it, please check your presentation for any formatting changes.

Deliver your PowerPoint 7.0 presentation on disk to the reception desk in Chafee 217, along with a roll of Kodak Elite chrome 100 ASA, 35 mm color slide film and the completed processing request form.

Two to three days are required to transfer the images to film, so please plan accordingly. At peak times, more time may be required.

When preparing your PowerPoint 7.0 presentation, make sure that:

  • The first slide is either blank or has a white background to ensure correct alignment when the film is cut,
  • The page format is set for 35 mm slides; click on File, Slide Set-up, Slides Sized for, 35 mm slides,
  • Use a simple font such as Times or Helvetica.

The ITMS film recorder creates a slide that is quite color-true to what you see on your monitor.
