Policies

Authorized Users:

All URI faculty, staff and students may use the facility on a walk-in or reservation basis with a valid URI ID.

Reservations:

Call 874-2847 to reserve computers and equipment for a block of up to two hours maximum. Reservations will be held for only 15 minutes beyond the reserved start time.

Usage:

The hardware and software at the ITC are reserved for creating multimedia instructional materials, not for general-purpose use. For general use such as word processing, printing documents in black and white, creating and editing Excel, PowerPoint, Access documents, exploring the Web, email... etc., users should go to any public microcomputer lab.

Color Printing:

Print jobs to the color printer must be submitted 30 minutes before closing. To avoid expensive repair, no one is allowed to load or supply his/her own paper or transparencies into the color printer without prior approval by an MTS staff member.

Disk Storage:

Each computer has a Public Folder on the Desktop for temporary storage of personal files. The Public Folder will be emptied and the files deleted by 9 am every Monday.

Assistance:

A trained Instructional Technology Center Lab Assistant will be present whenever the facility is open. He/she will provide security and limited assistance on the use of hardware and software.  Learning aids and materials are also available for use within the ITC computer lab.
