ITS Advantage

Instructional Technology Services Staff Development

ITS Advantage is a Staff Development program that provides valuable peer assistance in career advancement. Discussion topics include (but are not limited to):

- Professional enhancement
- Interpersonal communication
- Improving job satisfaction
- Stress management

The Staff Development group also organizes a book discussion group, professional development seminars and video screenings on mentoring topics throughout the year. Please look for these announcements in your email.

In 2009, ITS Advantage added a New Employee Mentoring component that assists with the transition of a new ITS employee into URI's work environment. This program specifically targets helping the new employee by answering questions before arrival and assisting with those crucial first few weeks.

Voluntary participation in the ITS Advantage program is endorsed by our Vice Provost Garrett Bozylinsky. You can sign up for one or more of the initiatives by selecting the Applications link.

Inspirational Quotes

"Our chief want in life is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

From: Garrett Bozylinsky
Vice Provost for ITS

"I want to encourage every ITS employee to consider participating in our voluntary mentoring program as either a mentor, a mentee, or both. I think mentoring can be a powerful way for participants to grow, have greater job satisfaction, and become more successful by taking advantage of the experiences of other ITS staff. Please take a moment to consider if you think mentoring would be valuable to you, either by having a mentor yourself or volunteering to serve as a mentor for others (or both). And remember, mentors gain as much or more from the experience as do mentees."
