College of Continuing Education Library

URI’s Feinstein College of Continuing Education is located on the URI Providence Campus in the Shepard Building at 80 Washington Street, Providence, RI 02903. The Feinstein College of Continuing Education participates in degree-granting programs on the undergraduate and graduate levels, and offers the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) degree, which has been designed especially for the returning adult student.

The URI College of Continuing Education Library supports the information needs of this unique student body with its collections, services, publications, and staff. The Library is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Library is closed on Sundays. Library hours may differ during summer session, intersession, and holidays; please call (401) 277-5130 for more information.

The CCE Library has a circulating collection of more than 25,000 volumes. The collection includes over 2,500 reference books with 500 volumes on business topics. The periodical collection consists of approximately 300 titles. The last five years of most titles are kept on the shelves, while back issues of many are on microfilm, and a number of high-use weekly publications are retained on microfiche. Indexes in both paper and computer-readable format provide access to these periodicals and to newspapers as well. The Library also maintains a collection of 1,500 art slides, and arranges for the rental of films.

Reference assistance is available whenever the Library is open. Bibliographic instruction and library orientation classes may be arranged with the Librarian. Individual term paper consultations are also available by prior arrangement.

Through interlibrary loan, books and journal articles not owned by the Library may be obtained free of charge from the University Library in Kingston or from other libraries.

Reserves is a service for material designated by faculty as required reading for a specific course. The materials are placed on reserve for a limited time and are available for use under prescribed regulations.

The CCE Library compiles bibliographic guides and information sheets for its patrons. Other User Guides from the University Library in Kingston are also available.
