URIs Feinstein College of Continuing Education is located
on the URI Providence Campus in the Shepard Building at 80 Washington Street, Providence,
RI 02903. The Feinstein College of Continuing Education participates in degree-granting
programs on the undergraduate and graduate levels, and offers the Bachelor of General
Studies (BGS) degree, which has been designed especially for the returning adult student.
The URI College of Continuing Education Library supports
the information needs of this unique student body with its collections, services,
publications, and staff. The Library is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to
9:00 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday from
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Library is closed on Sundays. Library hours may

Collections
The CCE Library has a circulating collection
of more than 25,000 volumes. The collection includes over 2,500 reference books with 500
volumes on business topics. The periodical collection consists of approximately 300
titles. The last five years of most titles are kept on the shelves, while back issues of
many are on microfilm, and a number of high-use weekly publications are retained on
microfiche. Indexes in both paper and computer-readable format provide access to these
periodicals and to newspapers as well. The Library also maintains a collection of 1,500
art slides, and arranges for the rental of films.
Services
Reference assistance is available whenever the Library is
open. Bibliographic instruction and library orientation classes may be arranged with the
Librarian. Individual term paper consultations are also available by prior arrangement.
Through interlibrary loan, books and journal articles not owned by the Library may be
obtained free of charge from the University Library in Kingston or from other libraries.
Reserves
Reserves is a service for material designated
by faculty as required reading for a specific course. The materials are placed on reserve
for a limited time and are available for use under prescribed regulations.
Publications
The CCE Library compiles bibliographic guides
and information sheets for its patrons. Other User Guides
from the University Library in Kingston are also available.
Eligible borrowers
Anyone possessing a University identification
card may have it validated to borrow books. Rhode Island residents 18 years of age or
older, with proof of residency, may apply for a Special Borrowers Card at the
Circulation Desk. The University is a member of the Higher Education Library Information
Network (HELIN), which extends borrowing privileges to the faculty, students, and staff of
the Community College of Rhode Island, Johnson & Wales University, Providence College,
Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University, and the University of Rhode Island.
Holdings of all these libraries are included in the HELIN
library catalog. All persons who have outstanding library bills will be denied
borrowing privileges.
