What is the Praxis I PPST?
The Praxis I PPST is one exam that has three parts: a Reading Test, a Mathematics Test, and a Writing Test. When you take the Praxis I PPST, you take all three parts at once or you can take the three parts on different days. This exam has multiple-choice questions as well as an essay section in the Writing Test.
Why am I taking this test?
Many colleges and universities use the Praxis I PPST to evaluate students before they enter teacher education programs. Many states also require these scores to get licensed as a teacher.
Should I guess on answers I'm unsure of when taking this test?
YES! You do not get points taken off for wrong answers. You score is based on the number of questions you answer correctly, so the more questions you answer the better chance you have to get more questions right!
How long does this test take?
The time it takes to complete the test depends on whether you want to take it on the computer or on paper. It also depends on if you want to take all three parts at once or separately. Below is a table for the computer-based exam when all three tests are taken all together:
