The December 2008 / January 2009 exhibit in the University of Rhode Island Library Gallery is The Persistent Enigma, mixed media by Rick Devin.
Artist Information Rick Devin has been creating art work and works of art for over thirty years. His work is constantly taking new directions as he believes that repetition is the root of stagnation. His paintings are executed in acrylic. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States. His other work is done in a variety of mixed media. His soft sculptures are done in very limited quantities. No two are exactly alike. Many of the small sculptures are one of a kind as he uses pieces and parts of costume jewelry and other findings which are unique to each one. These sculptures range in height from four to eight inches. Artist’s Statement I create in a variety of mediums trying to present my ideas and feelings to the viewer. Each piece is a sign post in my career. I believe that repetition is the root of stagnation. Each work is perhaps but a starting point for a new direction. I maintain a studio and gallery in Hope Valley, Rhode Island. I can be reached at 401-539-8627 or via e-mail at rickdevinltd@yahoo.com. I welcome your comments. — Rick Devin
