I
have arranged my work in a loose chronological order so the viewer may follow the thread
of my thoughts. Some may seem frayed, but there is order somewhere in the chaos. Each
piece was created at a certain moment in my life and tries to convey where my mind was at
that moment in time. There are a number of reoccurring themes in my work, such as moons,
clocks and faces. I view these images as a constant, an always changing object and a one
of a kind look.
My work is drawn from within and is often
mixed with memories, hopes, fears and past conversations. "Creativity can only be
energized by change". I am constantly seeking a reaction, whether it is positive or
negative, because it is necessary for my existence as an artist. I paint in acrylic,
allowing the basic idea to be complete in one sitting. I am then able to go back and
rework the piece for detail and coherency.
I maintain a studio and gallery in Hope
Valley, Rhode Island. I can be reached at (401) 539-8627 or via e-mail rickdevinltd@yahoo.com. I welcome your comments.
