For two weeks in December, the University of Rhode Island Libraries Gallery will be displaying a Habitat for Humanity Photo Exhibit, a traveling photo exhibit that shows images of Habitat’s work around the world. Staff photographers captured the images during Habitat’s Global Village builds – short term mission trips where Habitat supporters build houses with low-income families in need. The exhibit shows images of Habitat’s work in several countries, including the United States, Romania, Northern Ireland, the Philippines, India, Malawi, Ghana, Chile and Costa Rica. The purpose of the exhibit is to raise awareness of how Habitat’s work around the world is closing the door on poverty housing and homelessness. Habitat for Humanity hopes the images encourage new supporters on campuses around this country to partner with us to help low-income families have decent, safe and affordable homes. About Habitat for Humanity International Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical Christian ministry that welcomes to its work all people dedicated to the cause of eliminating poverty housing. Since its founding in 1976, Habitat has built more than 250,000 houses worldwide, providing simple, decent and affordable shelter for more than 1 million people.
