MathSciNet is the online version of Mathematical
Reviews and Current Mathematical Publications, which are published by the American
Mathematical Society. MathSciNet indexes and abstracts journals, books, and proceedings in
mathematics. The database covers from 1940 to the present and is updated daily. |
| To access MathSciNet (Mathematical Reviews),
select it from the list of reference databases at http://www.uri.edu/library/
reference_databases/title.html. When the MathSciNet home page displays, click on the arrow next to the search blanks to select a field to search, such as Title, Author, or Anywhere within the record. Type in a word or phrase to use as a search term, and click on Search. You can use an asterisk to search for other forms of a word; for example, a search for "model*" will return results containing the word model, models, modeling, and so on. For help while searching, a “help” link is located at the bottom of the main search screen. On results screens, help is available in the upper right corner.

After clicking on the Search button, a list of search results will appear. To display more information and retrieve the abstract of an article, click on the linked 7-digit number at the beginning of the citation. You may also display this information by checking the boxes beside citations in the results list and then clicking on Retrieve Marked. Save citations in ASCII text for downloading or printing from the browser by clicking on "Add citation to clipboard."

|
Clicking on an author's name when results are displayed will search for other publications by that particular author. If you prefer, you can also retrieve citations and reviews in PDF, DVI, PostScript, and BibTeX formats using the pull down menu just above the results. |
To locate the full text of an article, click on the Article link below the citation, or the ArticleLinker icon on the right side of the page. If the full text is not available either online or in print through the University Library, copy down the citation provided by the MathSciNet and use Interlibrary Loan to obtain the article.
