To obtain materials more quickly than by
using Interlibrary Loan, you may want to use a document delivery service or travel to a
regional library.
Document Delivery Services
Document delivery companies rapidly provide
articles or other photocopies for a charge. Items are usually faxed, delivered online, or
mailed within a couple of days. Payment is by credit card. The following companies offer
document delivery services:
Regional Libraries
Many regional libraries extend access
privileges to students, faculty, and staff of the University of Rhode Island.
- HELIN
Consortium (Borrowing privileges are granted to students, faculty, and staff of all
HELIN institutions, including URI.)
- Ocean State Libraries (Consortium of
public libraries in Rhode Island. Any R.I. resident may obtain a borrowing card at their
nearest public library.)
- Brown
University (Access requires a letter of introduction for students or a CRIARL card for full-time faculty;
either may be obtained at the Reference Desk.)
- WorldCat
(Lists the holdings of many regional and national libraries. Call or check library catalogs to inquire about
exact holdings and access policies before going. Letters of introduction may be obtained
at the Reference Desk.)
