On display in the University Library lobby through January is a selection of holiday coverage found in the Library's collection of periodicals.

As we become increasingly reliant on computers for our research, we may miss some features of periodicals that are omitted when items are digitized.

What are we losing? Some full text databases leave out illustrations and advertisements, while color images might be converted to black and white to save digital storage space. 

This exhibit presents only a tiny fraction of the color, cultural, and historical context of holidays past, available in the periodicals collections of the University of Rhode Island Library.
