NetLibrary is a collection of thousands of electronic books on a variety of topics. We are sharing the purchase of about 7,000 netLibrary titles with our regional consortium, NELINET. All HELIN libraries have access to these items, and all NetLibrary titles can be searched through the HELIN catalog. NetLibrarys books online are identical in format and content to the print versions of the texts. The difference is that the online books circulate for a much shorter period of time: four hours per checkout, renewable as long as another user isnt waiting for the item. If we discover that URI needs greater or more rapid access to some of the titles we have purchased collectively, we will consider buying an additional online or print copy. To use netLibrary, click on the netLibrary icon above from a computer located at the University of Rhode Island. You will be asked to fill out a user profile so that you will have your own account for as long as you are a member of the URI community. You may then access the titles in netLibrary from any computer, anywhere in the world. The HELIN libraries consider netLibrary an experiment in the growing world of digital resources. We welcome your use of the texts in netLibrary and invite you to let us know how you like the service. If you need assistance, please contact the Reference Desk. If you would like to provide comments or feedback on the netLibrary service, please contact Michael Vocino, Collection Management Officer, at (401) 874-4605 or vocino@uri.edu. |
