This semester URI may be affected by the H1N1 virus. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to stay home if they present symptoms, which is excellent medical advice, but may make the business of the semester (study and research) difficult. Here is a basic primer to library services on all three campuses, focusing on what can and cannot be done remotely. 1. Books -- Books on all three campuses must be picked up at the library, there is no remote access to books. Materials that are near their return dates can be renewed online through the My Library Account link on the main Library page. The Kingston Circulation Desk (401) 874-2672 can also answer questions. 2. Journals and Magazines -- Many of the Library's periodicals can be accessed online via the Library web site (http://www.uri.edu/library/), by using the HELIN catalog or the e-journals links to look for specific articles. The large number of indexes and databases under "Find Articles" are useful for finding articles on topics. Accessing these resources requires an activated URI ID. If you cannot access these resources, please call the Circulation Desk in any of the URI Libraries and verify the status of your ID. The process only takes a few minutes. Since it is necessary at this time to do this process in person, it is best to activate your ID as soon as possible. 3. Research Assistance -- while in-person reference is often ideal, it is possible to get reference help at a distance. Hours and phone numbers for the three reference desks:

4. Specific Departments -- If you have questions or need assistance concerning other services, please contact them directly at the phone numbers listed below.
