Friday afternoons 1 – 3 PM in Library LL12
This semester the URI Libraries will again be sponsoring a series of
training sessions to help improve your research skills. The sessions
will be given once a month by Associate Professor Amanda Izenstark.
The seminars will be on Friday afternoons from 1-3 PM in room LL12 in
the Robert L. Carothers Library & Learning Commons, Kingston.
All are welcome to attend.
February 10 - RefWorks
Manage citations and references with ease using RefWorks. Whether you
want to learn about the features of the new version, get a refresher
on RefWorks' functionality, or start using RefWorks from scratch, this
session will help you manage citations, share reference lists with
collaborators or classes, and use other features of RefWorks 2.0.
March 2 - Library & Online Research Tips & Tricks
From advanced Boolean searching in databases and search engines to
using plug-ins to automate catalog searches and link to articles, this
session offers a variety of time-saving tips and tricks to make your
online and library research faster and easier. (Because some tools
require installation on one's own computer, attendees are encouraged
to bring their own laptop, but it is not required.)
April 13 - Google Like a Librarian
Google isn't just a single search box - it offers much more under that
top layer with the cute logos. This session will cover tricks to
target your searches precisely as well as techniques to harness the
power of Google Scholar, Google Books, and Google Docs for your own
work or for classes.
