Donated to URI Special Collections 16 years ago, the Colt Family Papers continue to be highly researched by many scholars and yet possess secrets yet to be revealed.

Glimpse the enigmatic world of this prominent, brilliant, and notorious 19th Century Rhode Island family through an exhibit of select papers, artifacts, and books.

Sarah Ann Colt kept this school journal while attending the Miss Huntley School in Hartford.  It is thought to have belonged originally  to her sister Margararet.  Margaret died of tuberculosis in 1823 and Sarah commintted suicide in 1829. Click to see a larger image.
