This series contains
documents dealing with Jean Moore's responsibilities
during the tenure of President Eddy at the University of Rhode Island
(1983-1991). The
correspondence and memoranda pertain to Jeanne Moore’s promoting the
University and apprising the president on media and public responses. Records are indicative of her interaction with
Eddy on a wide array of topics related to University relations and with public officials. Documents include drafts of public relations responses, news
clippings and press releases, speeches and interviews by President Eddy.
There is also a substantial amount of information on issues
of governance in the Eddy administration with respect to public
relations. Of interest in the series are records documenting the controversial search for an
athletic director, Eddy's response to the Koch
Report, the “Options for Higher Education Governance Report
1994", and information pertaining to the reorganization of URI in 1987.
