In the late 1980s PLAN began to
decentralize the administration of field operations, moving the management of program
activities from International Headquarters to a series of regional offices located closer
to the field offices and programs they were to manage. Each regional office is managed by
a regional director who has overall responsibility for the administration of programs in
the region.
The Region of Eastern and Southern Africa
(RESA), established in 1991 with offices in Nairobi, Kenya, oversees program activities in
Egypt, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
The records in this series document the
establishment of the regional office, interaction between regional office and field office
staff, and interaction between regional office and International Headquarters staff.
Included are correspondence, memos, annual field office program reports (both hard copy
and floppy disk), audit reports, quarterly reports, Situation Assessment and Goal
Establishment (SAGE) Reports, target impact evaluation reports, field office quota sheets,
and strategic plans for future programming.
The records are arranged alphabetically by
the name of the country/field office, subject; or type of record and chronologically
within folders.
