You are finally sitting down to organize that 10-12 page research paper for your Art/Human Development/Biology class on the topic of:

• The restoration of the Vatican's Sistine Chapel, OR
• The relationship between mental illness and homelessness, OR
• The health effects of genetically modified vegetables.

Luckily, you've taken LIB 120 and you still have your notes, so this assignment should be a piece of cake.

Your task for this exam is to pick one of the topics above and show me how you would develop the research project from start to finish. Describe in detail the research process from first choosing the topic through all the stages of research as you have learned them in this course.

Also include a rough outline of your proposed paper and a bibliography of at least five citations, in MLA format, of high quality sources that would support your research. The sources should include a subject encyclopedia, a book, a scholarly journal article, a popular magazine article and a Web site.

GRADING CRITERIA

An excellent response will include all of the following elements; a good response will include most of the following elements; a poor response will only include some of the following elements:

• Describe how you would research the topic following the three steps of the Research Process.
• Identify the appropriate discipline and subject areas.
• Explore the concepts relating to the topic and design a research question.
• Specifically identify all the different types of resources you would use to find the information (catalogs, indexes, databases, search engines).
• Describe how you would evaluate the information you find to determine quality.
• Write an outline of your proposed paper.
• Include citations to at least five QUALITY sources that would help answer your research question.
