Acquisitions Librarian
Responsible for the administration and management of monographic acquisitions
and copy cataloging. Serves as the administrative head of this Unit within the Department
of Technical Services, and reports to the Coordinator of Bibliographic Services and
Systems. Monitors monographic acquisitions budgets, the ordering and receiving activities,
and the OCLC copy cataloging. Serves as liaison with vendors, maintains contracts and
licensing agreements for digital resources, and supervises support and student staff
within the Unit. Trains staff in new procedures and enhancements to the Librarys
automated systems, acts as a subject liaison with teaching faculty, and coordinates
Librarys acquisition work with our consortia.
Qualifications: ALA/MLS; at least 2 years academic library technical services
experience; experience in using the III integrated automated library system, and OCLC
cataloging system; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; knowledge of
standards, issues and trends relating to technical services.
This is a 12 month, tenure track faculty position, at the rank of Assistant Professor.
