Position Title: Assistant/Associate
Professor, University Library
(Coordinator of Bibliographic Services &
Systems)
This is a tenure-track, 12 month calendar year position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for management, supervision, and assessment of the acquisitions, cataloging
and systems units of the University Libraries; coordinate the units programs,
projects, personnel, policies and procedures; maintain records and statistics; manage
financial resources; responsible for digital library resources and services and assist
with copyright issues and grant writing; serve on the libraries management team; may
serve also as chairperson of the Technical Services Department; act as subject liaison to
teaching faculty and coordinates libraries acquisitions work with our consortia;
must fulfill University requirements for retention, promotion, and tenure.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: graduate degree in librarianship from an ALA-accredited
institution; minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in
academic library technical services, including some experience at the supervisory level;
knowledge of and experience with library automated systems and services; excellent verbal,
written and interpersonal skills; knowledge of standards, issues and trends in
acquisitions, technical services, digital library initiatives, metadata, electronic
publishing and copyright.
PREFERRED: proven managerial and leadership experience; knowledge of
Innovative Interfaces; experience with resource-sharing consortia.
