  7. Selective Journal Holdings: The Medical Library Association has been sponsoring research to determine the literature that is most heavily used by the professionals in that discipline. Ardis Haaland,’s research, "Mapping the literature of dental hygiene" (Bull Med Libr Assoc 87:3, July, 1999, p-283-286), identifies a core list of journals where, of a total list of 389 cited journals, 5 journals accounted for 34.5% of all citations, while 42 additional titls accounted for another 34.5% of citations. URI subscribes to the top three of 5 journals, 7 of the top 10 journals, and 18 of the top 47 titles. Based on this survey, we provide significant direct access to the literature for our students and staff.
