4. Selective Journal Holdings: SSCI provides rankings of scholarly journals based on a number of categories. The following is the ranking published in Journal Citation Reports for 1998, by impact factor :

While the University Library has undergone a series of cuts in its journal subscriptions during the past ten years, the journal collection in support of the GSLIS curriculum has remained steady. We have all of the major English language library science journals, and many of the minor ones. This collection is supplemented by a full array of US and state government publications, professional and scientific journals in related subject areas, and growing access to electronic texts through, at present, Bell & Howell. We spend approximately $250,000 p.a. to supply online and electronic access to many syandard indexing and abstracting media as well.
