SERIALS IN SPLIT LOCATIONS - PROCEDURE:
A. Serial
titles: Latest on Reference or Latest 3 or 5 or 10 years on Reference. Earlier volumes in Serial Stacks
1.
Catalog Unit will create Item Records for both Reference and Serial Stacks in the
HELIN database
a) For Reference Item Record: Change I TYPE (04) to:
"1" ; LOCATION (19) to:
"riuf" ; STATUS (21) to: "o" (not zero)
b) For Serial Stack Item Record: Change I TYPE and STATUS fields as above. Change
LOCATION (19) to: "riup"
c) Add Call no. to both Item Records
2.
Serial Unit will create Checkin Record
Change
LOCATION (06) to: riuf.
When a new
volume or edition of the same title is added to Reference Collections and
the earlier volume is shelved in Serial Stacks, add a note to the Checkin Record:
"Earlier volumes in Serial Stacks" B. Serial titles: Latest on
Reserve. Earlier volumes in Reference or Serial Stacks

Catalog Unit will create Item Records for Reserve and Reference or Serial
Stacks
a) For Reserve Item Record: Change LOCATION (19) to: "urir"
b) For Reference or Serial Stack Item Record: Follow
A1(a) or A1(b)
c) Add Call no. to both Item Records
2.
Serial Unit will create Checkin Record
Change
LOCATION (06) to: "urir"
When a new
volume or edition replaces the earlier one in Reserve and the earlier
volume(s) or edition(s) is moved to Reference or Serial Stacks, add a note to the Checkin
Record:
"Earlier
volumes in Reference" or "Earlier
volumes in Serial Stacks" C. Current
Serial Titles:
1. Catalog Unit
will follow the steps A1(b) to create an Item Record for the Serial
Stacks. Add Call no. to the Record.
2. Serial Unit will create Checkin Record according
to current practice
When
a serial is bound and shelved in the Serial Stacks, add a note to the Checkin
Record: "Bound volumes in Serial Stacks" AKL june 2003.
