Melvin Wade Day
During the Civil Rights Educational and Historical Tour  Melvin Wade, Director of the Multicultural Center at the University of Rhode Island was honored with an official Proclamation: " Melvin Wade Day".

Proclamation
Proclaiming
"Melvin Wade Day"

Whereas, Melvin Wade, a native of Greenville, Mississippi, comes from a heritage of strength and pride; and

Whereas, he has distinguished himself by becoming an outstanding leader in the area of multi-cultural education;and
Whereas, Melvin Wade works diligently to improve relations between people of all cultures in order to create a "beloved community"; and

Whereas, he has distinguished himself in his performance and administrative capacity at the University of Rhode Island Multi-Cultural Center, and

Whereas, the citizens of Greenville, Mississippi are proud to welcome home a native son and to bestow on him the honor of being a distinguished citizen;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Paul C. Artman, Jr., Mayor of the City of Greenville, Mississippi do hereby proclaim this the 4th day of January, 2002, as
"Melvin Wade Day"
in the City of Greenville
