The University of Rhode Island Multicultural Center is soliciting
nominations
for the Fourth Annual Diversity Awards Celebration.
These awards honor the outstanding contributions and
achievements of students,
faculty, administrators, staff and friends toward developing a
more inclusive, diverse
and equitable campus community at URI and increasing the capacity
of the University
to reach its fullest educational, cultural, economic, and social
potential.
THE DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS IS FRIDAY,
MARCH 20, 4:00PM.
A
committee of faculty, staff, and students will decide the award
recipients.
Nominees are
invited from any member or friend of the campus community.
Nominations may
be submitted for any or all categories.

Diversity Award Categories:
Criteria for selection of Diversity Award
recipients include the following:
- Improving interpersonal and intergroup relations among
diverse groups;
- Increasing the institutional success of members of the
campus community from diverse cultural backgrounds;
- Improving the quality of campus life through cultural,
artistic, organizational, departmental, programmatic, or institutional diversity and
excellence initiatives;
Improving the quality of teaching and learning
through the study and application of principles of inclusion, equity, and constructivism;
and/or
- Developing partnerships within and beyond the
university to achieve diversity goals.
Undergraduate Student Excellence
(Academic/Service)
This award celebrates the
outstanding contributions of an undergraduate student who has combined academic excellence
with multicultural leadership and service to the campus community.
Undergraduate Student Excellence
(Leadership/Service)
This award celebrates the
outstanding contributions of an undergraduate student who has provided multicultural
leadership and service to the campus community.
Undergraduate
Student Excellence (Artistic/Cultural)
This award celebrates the
outstanding service of an undergraduate student who provides multicultural leadership and
artistic/cultural excellence to the campus community.
Student Organization Excellence
(Leadership/Service)
This award celebrates the
outstanding contributions of an undergraduate or graduate student organization that has
provided multicultural leadership and service to the campus community.
Graduate Student Excellence (Leadership/Service)
This award celebrates the
outstanding contributions of a graduate student who combines academic excellence with
multicultural leadership and service to the campus community.
Staff/Administrative Excellence (Leadership/Service)
This award celebrates the
outstanding contributions of a staff member or administrator who provides multicultural
leadership and service to the campus community.
Faculty Excellence (Leadership/Service)
This award celebrates the
outstanding contributions of a faculty member who provides service to the campus
community.
