URI Diversity Awards Information
Presented by the Multicultural Center, The Office of Community, Equity and Diversity, and the Office of Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity, & Diversity.
The University of Rhode Island Diversity Awards celebrate students, faculty, administrators and staff who have demonstrated an emerging, sustained or lifetime commitment to community leadership, academic excellence and service in promoting diversity and multiculturalism. These individuals work in promoting human difference as assets. The Diversity Award is to acknowledge their contribution towards building and sustaining an equitable and multicultural community at URI.

Nominations are due February 10, 2012.
General Information about nominations and selection:
- There are 7 categories for nomination.
- Undergraduate students have 3 categories (Academic, Artistic, and Leadership)
- Typically 2 awards are given in each category.
Nomination process and timeline:
- 02/10/12 - All nominations are submitted
- 02/10/12 - Nominees will be informed and sent a Nominee Response Sheet
for completion.
- 02/24/12 - Nominees return completed Nominee Response
Sheet.
- 03/23/12 - Final decisions made regarding recipients.
Nominations can be submitted:
- Online at 2012 Diversity Awards Nomination Site
- Faxed to 401-874-5952
- Mailed to Multicultural Center, 74 Lower College Rd, Kingston, RI 02881
- For a hard copy of the nomination packet, go to the online survey and print.

Who is eligible to nominate or be nominated:
- All members of the URI campus are eligible to nominate and be nominated.
- Nominations are open to any and all members of the campus community whose outstanding contributions in multicultural leadership and/or service have benefited the campus community.
- These awards are not just limited to members of multicultural groups.
