URI Honors Colloquium and Diversity Week Keynote Address: Human Molecular Genetics and the Subject of Race:  Contrasting the Rhetoric with Practical Applications in Clinical Medicine and Forensics by Dr. Troy Duster

Co-sponsored by the URI Honors Colloquium and the URI Multicultural Center. Dr. Troy Duster is currently Chancellor's Professor of Sociology and Director of the Institute for the Study of Social Change at the University of California at Berkeley, and Professor of Sociology at New York University.

         The Laramie Project
Created from verbatim conversations with the residents of Laramie, Wyoming this innovative play by Moses Kaufman and the Tectonic Theatre Group presents a series of moments depicting the diverse reactions of a community to the brutal murder in 1998 of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old gay student. Play opens October 10, 2002 and runs for two weeks.
