Through the annual New York City Arts and Culture Tour, the URI Multicultural
Center seeks to increase skills of perception, analysis, and judgment; to deepen
understanding of the perspectives of the self and the other in experiencing the
visual and performing arts; to promote awareness of diverse cultural heritages;
and to promote global citizenship.
Bus will leave URI Memorial Union between 8-10 am. Bus will return to URI
by 11-Midnight pm on Saturday.
Cost: $30/student (includes transportation, ticket to Def Poetry Jam, and
boxed lunch. DOES NOT INCLUDE DINNER)
Hip-hop comes to Broadway, thanks to entrepreneur Russell Simmons (Phat Farm,
HBO's "The Def Comedy Jam"), who presents Def Poetry Jam on Broadway.
The show is described as "an evening of entertainment featuring nine performance
poets with a new American voice, taking a fresh, exuberant, insightful, comedic
look at who we are and where we are today." The poets have been selected
by Simmons and Stan Lathan from the best of the performers on their HBO series.
To reserve a spot, please email or call Mailee at
maileekue@uri.edu or 874-5829. Please RSVP by April 18, 2003.
